It all started a long time ago, back in 2016 when I saw soviet-era old Zenit film camera on girl I liked very much. So my teenager brain decided to lie that I also have interest in film and bought my Zenit recently. So, a day after I had to go and buy my first film camera Zenit 12CD and 2 rolls of my first film Fujicolor 200. While I realy liked results of my first film roll, the irony was that that girl because of whom I bought it loaded film incorrectly and was not able to produce single photo result. Since that day photography became my life, my professional hobby - thats how I love to describe it. I do it, I enjoy it, but I refuse to earn money taking pictures of events and people because the minute I do that it will become a work rather than a hobby.
Since 2016 I grew a lot as photographer. In 2018 I started using digital SLR as well. I shot on basic films such as Kodak Gold, Fujicolor, but later tried films such as Ektar 100, Ekteachrome, Fuji Provia. Despite loving the colors of film photography, I ended up falling in love specifically with black and white films. In my exposures I used films such as Kodak T-Max and Trix, Ilford Delta and HP5, Fompan, Arista, and my absolute favorites Rollei RPX and Rollei Infrared 400 especially with R72 filter.
I also develop all my black and white films myself, and recently started to scan and when needed manual print them with my soviet-made enlarger modified with japanese El-Nikkor lens.
Currently I shoot on Canon 850 DSLR and Canon 650 with Canon EF 18-55, EF 75-300, EF 28-105 as well as Yanguno 50mm portrait lense. I also use Zenit 11 with Helios 44M lens and Pentax Program Plus with 28mm Vivitar lens. While I do enjoy the lens interchangability between my digital and analog Canon SLRs, and definetly appreciate autofocus and other program modes of Canon 650, I still belive that film photography is not simply about film, but also about history and retro cameras as well.
